Susan Hughes is from Belfast. She graduated with a BA in painting in 2008 and an MFA in 2021, both from the University of Ulster. She has completed many artist residencies in Ireland (Inishlacken, Annamakerrig, Cill Railig), Norway (Kunstnarhauset Messen, Leveld Kunstnartun) and Iceland (Gamli Skoli). Susan has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and has been in receipt of Arts Council Northern Ireland funding on several occasions as well as the CCA Derry/L’Derry Graduate Award (2021) and the Platform Arts Graduate Award (2021). She plays fiddle specialising in South West Donegal, Appalachian and Norwegian folk music.
